Accreditation Myths vs. Facts

  • Myth: Paramedic class is a 2-year degree program now
  • Fact: Paramedic class is NOT a mandatory 2-year degree program. While many schools are building a 2-year degree program for paramedic technology, it is not a state or federal requirement. At FGTC we teach the paramedic certificate course over 15 months
  • Myth: Accreditation requirements have stopped independent schools from teaching paramedic courses
  • Fact: Since the 2013 accreditation, changes went into effect several independent schools in Georgia have been approved by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP) to continue teaching paramedic courses. FGTC has taught paramedic courses for 8 years and continues to be recognized as a paramedic training facility
  • Fact: We currently have multiple paramedic courses running at all times
